Dominican Republic Tourism Minister David Collado signs ITF pact for sustainable mobility
On 29 July 2026, in Punta Cana, the Ministry of Tourism of the Dominican Republic and the International Transport Workers' Federation (ITF) signed a memorandum of cooperation. The agreement was signed by Tourism Minister David Collado and ITF Secretary‑General Stephen Cotton during the ITF Caribbean National Coordination Committee meeting.
The pact is intended to promote sustainable tourism mobility by integrating ground transport into the tourism value chain, fostering exchange of knowledge, best practices and technical cooperation. It focuses on improving safety, quality, innovation and environmental sustainability of transport services that serve visitors. The ITF also presented Collado with an award recognizing his leadership in promoting sustainable tourism.
Collado said that strengthening transport workers “strengthens the entire tourist experience of the Dominican Republic,” noting that transport staff are often the first and lasting impression for visitors.
