Weather agencies warn of heavy rain and heat in Dominican Republic, Venezuela, and Ecuador
Meteorological agencies in the Dominican Republic, Venezuela, and Ecuador have issued warnings regarding upcoming weather patterns involving heavy rain, thunderstorms, and high temperatures.
In the Dominican Republic, the Instituto Dominicano de Meteorología (Indomet) reports that a tropical wave combined with daytime heating will trigger moderate to heavy showers, thunderstorms, and wind gusts. Affected provinces include Hato Mayor, El Seibo, Monte Plata, Duarte, Azua, San Juan, and others. High temperatures between 31°C and 35°C are expected, prompting health advisories for hydration and sun protection. Additionally, a non-tropical low-pressure area off the U.S. coast is being monitored, though it currently poses no threat to the country.
In Venezuela, Inameh predicts increased cloud cover and scattered showers or rains in regions such as Guayana Esequiba, the Andes, and Zulia, driven by the Intertropical Convergence Zone and a monsoon wave.
In Ecuador, Inamhi forecasts intense rainfall and thunderstorms through October 22. The coastal region, including Esmeraldas and Guayas, may experience very high precipitation levels, while the Andean region faces significant rainfall and short-term alerts in provinces like Azuay and Loja.
