Tropical waves and extreme heat impact Dominican Republic, Paraguay, and Venezuela

Multiple regions in the Caribbean and South America are facing severe weather conditions. In the Dominican Republic, Indomet has warned of a combination of tropical waves and troughs that will trigger heavy showers, electrical storms, and wind gusts across several provinces. Simultaneously, the country is experiencing extreme heat, with temperatures potentially exceeding 37 °C, exacerbated by high concentrations of Saharan dust.

In Paraguay, the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAG) has issued a special meteorological alert due to a storm system. Expected impacts include intense rainfall with accumulations between 70 and 100 mm in orange alert zones and wind gusts reaching or exceeding 90 km/h.

Venezuela is also seeing increased instability due to the passage of tropical waves 47 and 48. In addition to variable rainfall, meteorologists warn of the long-term effects of the El Niño phenomenon, which is expected to bring a deficit of rainfall and increased temperatures, posing risks to the agricultural sector.
