Tropical Storm Fay forms in Atlantic as Dominican Republic faces heat and storms

Tropical Storm Fay has formed in the Atlantic Ocean, located approximately 730 kilometers southwest of the Azores. While the system is near hurricane strength with maximum sustained winds of 75 km/h, meteorologists indicate it poses no direct threat to the Dominican Republic due to its projected path toward open waters.

In the Dominican Republic, the Instituto Dominicano de Meteorología (Indomet) reports a period of intense heat and humidity. While mornings are expected to be mostly sunny with high temperatures between 33°C and 35°C, afternoon instability is forecast to trigger localized showers, thunderstorms, and wind gusts. These conditions will primarily affect provinces in the northwest, the Cibao Valley, the Central Mountain Range, and the border regions.
