Dominican Youth Ministry launches Summer Games 2026 in Santo Domingo

Juegos de Verano 2026 Dominican Republic youth ministry sports integration Malecón Deportivo

The Ministry of Youth formally opened the Juegos de Verano 2026 on 27 June at Santo Domingo’s Malecón Deportivo. Minister Carlos Valdez and National District mayor Carolina Mejía led the inauguration, which featured competitions in volleyball, 3×3 basketball and football. The event showcased the Dominican women’s volleyball team and a friendly football match between the provinces of Espaillat and Hermanas Mirabal, aiming to foster youth integration, healthy habits and teamwork.

Organizers described the summer games as a platform for young athletes from across the country to develop talent, build social ties and enjoy safe, recreational sport in a public space, reinforcing the ministry’s commitment to youth development through sport.
