Chihuahua authorities close 39 alcohol outlets in week-long inspections

During the week of 6‑12 July, the Chihuahua state Subsecretariat of Governance carried out 300 inspections of establishments that sell or serve alcoholic beverages. The operation resulted in 16 closures across the state: nine in the city of Chihuahua, five in Ciudad Juárez, and one each in Aldama and Ascensión. Closures cited reasons such as operating without permits, selling alcohol to minors, out‑of‑hours service and failure to renew licenses.

In the same period, the municipal government of Chihuahua conducted 250 inspections, issuing 22 administrative notices that led to 23 additional closures. Affected venues included liquor stores, restaurants, event halls and small grocery outlets that lacked required permits, operated outside authorized hours, or failed to meet health and safety documentation standards. Both state and municipal actions aim to enforce alcohol‑sale regulations, protect public health, and ensure compliance with local ordinances.
