Chihuahua alcohol outlet regulatory enforcement

Overview

Authorities in Chihuahua have conducted a series of inspections targeting businesses involved in the sale and marketing of alcoholic beverages.

In mid-July, inspections led to the closure of 39 alcohol outlets over a one-week period. By early August, the Subsecretaría de Gobernación reported conducting 288 inspections between August 3 and August 9, resulting in the closure of 17 businesses across five municipalities. In Ciudad Juárez, eleven establishments—including grocery stores and event halls—were shut down. Other closures were recorded in Delicias, Saucillo, Aquiles Serdán, and Chihuahua. Cited violations included operating without permits, exceeding capacity, operating outside of permitted hours, and business type violations.

Enforcement continued through late August. Between August 24 and August 30, the Subsecretaría de Gobernación conducted 353 inspections, resulting in the closure of 23 businesses. Ciudad Juárez recorded the highest number of enforcement actions with 14 closures, involving grocery stores, restaurants, and event halls. Other closures occurred in Chihuahua City (5), Cuauhtémoc (2), and Delicias (2). Violations included operating outside permitted hours, failure to address official notices, lack of annual revalidation, and the unauthorized extraction of alcoholic beverages.

Regulatory actions persisted into early September. Between August 31 and September 6, the Subsecretariat of Government conducted 347 inspections, resulting in 24 closures. These occurred in Ciudad Juárez (11), Chihuahua (10), Delicias (2), and Cuauhtémoc (1). Reported violations included operating outside permitted hours, lack of security personnel, failure to comply with age restrictions, and failure to provide assistance during inspections.
