Dominican Republic's Indotel launches Cybersecurity Assistance Center
The Dominican Institute of Telecommunications (Indotel) announced the start of a procurement process to establish a Cybersecurity Assistance Center. The center will serve as a first‑line support service for citizens facing digital threats such as WhatsApp scams, fraudulent calls, identity theft, social‑media hijacking, online purchase fraud, cyberbullying, sextortion and other forms of digital fraud.
Indotel director Guido Gómez Mazara said the initiative aims to make cybersecurity a public‑service issue, providing immediate guidance, evidence preservation, reporting advice and preventive education. Target groups include children and adolescents vulnerable to cyberbullying, seniors prone to phone scams, entrepreneurs and small businesses, and the general public whose daily activities increasingly rely on digital platforms.
