Dominican Republic's Intrant certifies 189 youth as traffic safety guardians

The National Institute of Transit and Land Transport (Intrant) certified 189 students from Colegio APEC Fernando Arturo de Meriño as part of the volunteer program “Guardianes del Tránsito.” The students presented six model projects and six proposals aimed at improving road safety.

The program now reaches about 1,000 volunteers across 15 educational centers nationwide. It is coordinated with the Ministry of Education and the National School of Road Safety (Enevial). Intrant executive director Milton Morrison said the initiative “educates, saves lives and builds a new culture on our streets,” emphasizing its role in raising awareness and reducing traffic accidents.

“Each participant becomes a multiplier of good practice, spreading the message of prevention and responsibility to families, schools and communities,” Morrison added, highlighting the program’s contribution to a safer, more responsible mobility culture in the Dominican Republic.
