Dominican Republic's INTRANT Opens First Driver License Office in Samaná

The National Institute of Transit and Terrestrial Transportation (INTRANT) inaugurated its first driver‑license office in the province of Samaná, Dominican Republic. Located on William Johnson Avenue near Epifanio Plouder in Santa Bárbara de Samaná, the new center can issue up to 200 licenses daily and directly serves 49,625 vehicle owners.

The office provides a full range of services—including renewal, duplicate, motorcycle licenses, police personnel processing, medical exams, theory tests, biometric capture and on‑site printing—operating Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. INTRANT executive director Milton Morrison said the opening is a step toward modernising and decentralising services, part of a plan to expand coverage from 14 to 32 districts nationwide. Samaná governor Teodora Mullix Geraldino called the opening a historic advancement for the province, aimed at improving road safety and bringing essential services closer to citizens.
