Dominican Republic's Intrant opens first driver‑license office in Hato Mayor

The National Institute of Transit and Land Transportation (Intrant) inaugurated its first driver‑license office in the province of Hato Mayor, Dominican Republic. Located on Ramón Matías Mella Street opposite the provincial governor’s office, the facility can issue up to 200 licenses daily and is part of Intrant’s plan to expand services from 14 to 32 demarcations nationwide.

The ceremony was led by Intrant executive director Milton Morrison, joined by provincial governor Maribel Simón de Reyes, budget director José Rijo Presbot, Senator Cristóbal Castillo, mayor Amado de la Cruz, and presidential envoy Freddy Capellán, along with civil and military officials. Morrison said, “Hoy, Hato Mayor comienza una nueva etapa. Esta oficina permitirá que miles de ciudadanos realicen sus trámites sin recorrer largas distancias, con un servicio moderno, ágil y seguro.”

The new office will serve roughly 29,772 vehicle owners from Hato Mayor de Rey and surrounding districts, offering issuance, renewal, duplicates, motorcycle licenses, police assistance, medical examinations, and theoretical and practical tests. It operates Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m.‑4:00 p.m., and will issue licenses featuring latest‑generation technology, higher security standards, and international recognition.
