Dominican UDC leader Luis Acosta Moreta urges political truce and service fixes for Central American and Caribbean Games

Luis Acosta Moreta, president of the Dominican Union Demócrata Cristiana (UDC), said the Central American and Caribbean Games are a national commitment that requires efficient organization, quality attention for visitors and reliable basic services. He emphasized that the Olympic Village must maintain continuous electricity, water, air‑conditioning and transport, and that security forces should ensure order at venues and routes.

Moreta called for a political truce during the games, urging opposition parties and the public to avoid marches, protests or driver strikes that could disrupt the event. He demanded urgent normalization of water supply, electricity (citing up to 15‑hour blackouts in Santo Domingo), public transport and security, stressing that these issues threaten the country’s image and the success of the games.
