Brazil prepares for 2027 Carnival with new parades and logistics

Preparations for the 2027 Carnival season in Brazil are underway, involving various cultural and logistical developments. In Rio de Janeiro, the rapper Don L is set to make his debut at the Marquês de Sapucaí with the samba school Mocidade Independente de Padre Miguel. The school’s theme, ‘Latinamente Independente – Nosso Norte é o Sul em Remanifesto’, focuses on the identity and power of the Global South.

Regarding logistics at the Sambódromo, Liesa (Liga Independente das Escolas de Samba do Rio de Janeiro) confirmed that access rules for the ‘frisas’ (sideline boxes) will remain consistent with previous years. Tickets purchased via Ticketmaster will be converted into wristbands, and there is no requirement for groups to collect them together. Liesa is currently studying a data collection process for all occupants to enhance security and combat scalping.

In Florianópolis, the municipal government has announced the 2027 Carnival programming four months in advance to aid tourism planning. The festivities will feature various musical genres and free shows across nine decentralized arenas.

Additionally, the São Paulo Fashion Week (SPFW) featured collections inspired by Carnival, such as the brand Santa Resistência, which paid homage to the Mangueira samba school through its ‘Otelo Brasileiro’ collection.
