Rio de Janeiro Carnival 2027 organizational and thematic進度

Overview

Preparations for the 2027 Rio de Janeiro Carnival have intensified, characterized by the finalization of samba-enredo anthems and increased digital engagement. Major samba schools are concluding their musical selections: Portela will honor Monarco with ‘Ao mestre, com carinho’; Mangueira has recorded ‘Oyá Por Nós’ featuring artists like Alcione and Maria Bethânia; and Salgueiro selected ‘Laroyê Xica da Silva’. Beija-Flor has selected its samba-enredo focusing on Zeneida Lima, with president Almir Reis noting that a strong song constitutes approximately 50% of a successful parade.

Grande Rio has announced its theme, ‘Sankofa Tabon – Os retornados da Costa do Ouro e a Estrela Negra da Liberdade’, focusing on historical roots and freedom. The school is incorporating Ghanaian influences through specific vocal arrangements and instrumental timbres under the direction of Rafael Prates. Mocidade Independente de Padre Miguel will debut rapper Don L at the Marquês de Sapucaí with the theme ‘Latinamente Independente – Nosso Norte é o Sul em Remanifesto’. Other developments include Unidos de Vila Isabel merging compositions for ‘Torto Arado’, Unidos da Tijuca finalizing ‘A Cabeça do Santo’, and Imperatriz Leopoldinense holding a sold-out final for ‘A Memória do Rei e o Sumiço de Dona Júlia’. In the Special Group, União de Maricá is preparing its theme ‘Utopia Brasil: Darcy Ribeiro’, featuring singer Neguinho da Beija-Flor.

Logistically, Liesa confirmed that ‘frisas’ access rules remain unchanged. Tickets purchased via Ticketmaster will be converted into wristbands, and Liesa is studying data collection processes to enhance security and combat scalping. The official Série Ouro album, featuring 17 tracks produced by Macaco Branco, has been released. Additionally, the Rio Carnaval Expo is opening at Cidade do Samba, featuring a tribute to designer Rosa Magalhães.
