Dona Mariana documentary and EP debut on Cotijuba Island, Pará

A documentary titled **Marianas** and an accompanying EP **Trilhas de Marianas** were launched on Cotijuba Island, near Belém, Brazil, on 27‑28 June. Directed by Dircélia Moraes, the 25‑minute film records three Afro‑religious manifestations linked to the revered entity Dona Mariana, featuring interviews with mothers of santo from Umbanda, Tambor de Mina and Candomblé communities. The event coincided with the traditional Festejo de Dona Mariana, with the documentary screened on 27 June at the Templo de Umbanda Caboclo Rompe Mato and the EP released on 28 June at the Mirante da Pedra Branca. The EP contains seven tracks inspired by the documentary’s chants and rituals. A musical showcase followed the EP launch, with performances by Maiara Almeida, Douglas Dias and the participating mães de santo. The projects aim to preserve and promote Afro‑Amazonian cultural heritage and increase visibility of these communities, with the EP also made available on digital streaming platforms.
