Trump warns of imminent decision on Iran as U.S. maintains Hormuz blockade

President Donald Trump has signaled that a major decision regarding Iran is imminent, warning that the outcome will occur either the 'easy way or the hard way.' Trump asserted that Iran's military and economic capabilities have been 'decimated' and claimed that Tehran has effectively abandoned its nuclear weapons ambitions.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth reinforced this stance, stating that preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons is a 'vital national interest.' Hegseth also asserted that the United States maintains an 'ironclad' blockade and effective control over the Strait of Hormuz, despite Iranian claims to the contrary.

In response, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has warned that any U.S. ground invasion would result in attacks on all American military bases and naval vessels. Meanwhile, Russia has offered to act as a mediator to end the conflict between the U.S. and Iran.

Amidst these tensions, the U.S. administration held an unannounced meeting at Camp David involving top officials to discuss the Iran war and the conflict in Yemen. Former official Brett McGurk warned that the confrontation could persist through the end of the Trump presidency.
