Donald Trump Halts Planned Iran Attack Pending Deal to Reopen Strait of Hormuz FAST-MOVING

President Donald J. Trump announced on Truth Social that the United States would cancel a massive planned strike against the Islamic Republic of Iran. He said the pause was made at the request of Iran and regional partners and is conditional on a rapid agreement that would fully reopen the Strait of Hormuz and end Iran’s nuclear threat. Israel stated it would honor the commitment to pause attacks, and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, along with the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Turkey and Pakistan, urged Trump to refrain from further strikes. The United States also issued travel alerts for American citizens in ten Middle Eastern countries because of escalation risk. Iran’s foreign minister Abbas Araghchi warned that any U.S. or Israeli attack would meet a proportional response. Following the announcement, global oil prices fell, with Brent crude down about 4.5 %.

The announcement marks a sharp reversal from earlier statements that the U.S. was “locked and loaded” for an unprecedented attack, highlighting the volatile diplomatic environment surrounding the five‑month conflict.
