Trump described a recent three-hour meeting between U.S. officials, including Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, and Iranian representatives as ‘very good.’ While the President issued stark rhetoric, suggesting a choice between a deal for Iran’s reconstruction or the ‘annihilation’ of the Islamic Republic, he also expressed hope for a resolution. He indicated that a formal agreement might be achievable following the U.S. midterm elections in November.

Iranian state media reported that Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi conveyed specific terms to Witkoff regarding the reopening of the strategic Strait of Hormuz. Tehran’s conditions include the immediate lifting of the U.S. naval blockade, the release of frozen Iranian assets, and a cessation of hostilities across all fronts. Iranian officials suggested the Strait could reopen within seven days if military pressure and port blockades are eased.
