Donald Trump Announces US Support for Lebanon and Accuses Iran of Ceasefire Violation

U.S. President Donald Trump pledged extensive support for Lebanon’s sovereignty, economy and armed forces during a call with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun. He affirmed Washington’s backing for the U.S.-brokered framework agreement between Lebanon and Israel, urged pressure on Israel to withdraw from southern Lebanon, and said he would meet President Aoun in Washington to discuss implementation and security assistance.

Trump also accused Iran of breaching a cease‑fire agreement after Iranian drones attacked the Singapore‑flagged cargo vessel Ever Lovely off Oman’s coast. He said one drone struck the ship’s deck while three others were shot down, noting the vessel was still able to continue its voyage. The president made no indication of a U.S. retaliation, and the United Nations International Maritime Organization said it was still investigating the incident. Iran warned it would not guarantee safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz without coordination under its interpretation of a U.S.–Iran memorandum.
