Donald Trump attacks journalist Maggie Haberman amid polling concerns

Donald Trump has engaged in a heated dispute with New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman following her recent commentary and reporting. On CNN, Haberman stated that there is no public polling showing the president is popular, noting that he faces significant political challenges regarding the issue of affordability.

In response to a report concerning his attendance at a 9/11 commemoration event, Trump issued a series of insults on Truth Social, calling Haberman a ‘scammer’ and a ‘phony’ and accusing her of false reporting. He further threatened legal action against her and The New York Times. CNN’s Jake Tapper publicly defended Haberman against the personal attacks.

Separately, polling data indicates political friction regarding economic policies. A Reuters/Ipsos poll found that 57% of Americans opposed Trump’s recent tariff increases on Canadian imports, highlighting the growing tension between presidential directives and public sentiment on household expenses.
