Donald Trump calls Brazil's Lula volatile after G7 speech

At the G7 summit in Évian‑les‑Bains, France, U.S. President Donald Trump said Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva was “very volatile” and described Brazil as “politically complicated.” Trump also claimed he heard that a Bolsonaro son had been arrested after a statement in Texas, confusing Eduardo and Flávio Bolsonaro.

Lula rebuked Trump, saying the American leader knows little about Brazil and should “learn from Brazil’s civilized elections.” He warned the United States against interfering in Brazil’s electoral process and criticized recent U.S. measures, including new tariffs on Brazilian products and the designation of Brazilian criminal groups as international terrorist organizations. The exchange highlighted growing tensions over sovereignty, trade, and security between the two countries.
