Donald Trump rallies in Texas to support Ken Paxton

Donald Trump held a campaign rally in San Antonio, Texas, to support Republican Senate candidate Ken Paxton. This marks Trump’s third visit to the state in less than a month as the Republican Party seeks to maintain its legislative majorities ahead of the November elections.

The event was marked by multiple disruptions from protesters. Security and law enforcement removed several individuals from the venue, including one person who appeared to approach the stage. Trump responded to the hecklers by calling them ‘paid protesters’ and making remarks about their appearance and families.

The Texas Senate race is currently highly competitive. Recent polling from the New York Times/Siena College shows Democratic candidate James Talarico leading Paxton with 51% to 45%. Trump’s presence in the state highlights the importance of Texas to the Republican effort to hold the Senate, despite the state’s traditionally strong Republican leanings.

During his speech, Trump also addressed economic concerns and made claims regarding Medicare, stating that over 20 million seniors would receive refund payments exceeding $100.
