President Donald Trump Holds Off Iran Strikes and Claims Golf Victory

U.S. President Donald Trump announced on August 2, 2026 that he had scrapped a plan for the “biggest attack since World War II” against Iran after receiving urging from Gulf allies Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, and after speaking with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Critics questioned the legitimacy of the score, with some alleging cheating.
