Ukraine and Russia energy truce claimed by Trump amid ongoing strikes FAST-MOVING

Donald Trump has announced that Ukraine and Russia have reached an agreement to cease mutual attacks on energy infrastructure. Trump attributed rising global diesel prices to the conflict rather than tensions in the Middle East.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has expressed readiness to support this de-escalation, provided that the United States can guarantee a reliable, long-term commitment from Russia to end the war. Zelenskyy noted that while Ukraine's precise strikes on Russia's war economy are exerting pressure, there is no evidence of a genuine Russian desire to end the conflict.

The Kremlin has welcomed calls for Kyiv to stop attacking Russian economic infrastructure, though Russia has not officially confirmed the truce.

Separately, the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has lifted greenhouse gas emission limits for coal and and gas-fired power plants. EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin stated this rollback is intended to reduce industry costs, estimated at over $300 billion, and increase power capacity to meet rising demand.
