U.S. President Donald Trump arrived in Evian‑les‑Bains, France, for the Group of‑7 summit, where he announced a tentative agreement with Iran to end the U.S. war in that country. He described the deal as a step toward greater stability in the Middle East and noted its positive impact on oil prices and stock markets. Trump said his participation in the formal signing would depend on how the talks progress, adding that “great things are going to happen” if the agreement holds.

The summit gathered leaders from the United States, France, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Japan and Canada, as well as invited guests from Brazil, Egypt, India, Kenya, South Korea, Qatar, Ukraine and the United Arab Emirates. French President Emmanuel Macron co‑hosted the meeting, while other leaders such as British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz listened to Trump’s remarks.

Protests against the G7 took place in nearby Geneva, where police used tear‑gas and water‑cannon tactics to disperse demonstrators, arresting several participants after stone‑throwing and pyrotechnic incidents.
