On a July 2026 flight to Michigan, U.S. President Donald Trump said Washington is conducting “good talks” with Iran and that there is a “big chance something will happen” toward a nuclear agreement. He added that he will ask Russian President Vladimir Putin whether Russian satellites are assisting Iran in targeting strikes.

Trump warned that if diplomatic efforts fail the United States is ready to take strong military action. He noted that current attacks on Iran have been temporarily suspended to give negotiations another chance, and said oil prices fell and stock indexes rose after the pause.

In a separate remark, Trump claimed that if he had not been president, Iran would have destroyed Israel. He also announced that a 1,055‑kilometre highway in Western Sahara will be named after him.
