Donald Trump says US will focus on land drug smuggling and may not renew USMCA

President Donald Trump told reporters at the White House that the United States will now concentrate its enforcement on drugs entering the country over the land border with Mexico. He highlighted a 97% drop in fentanyl shipments intercepted at sea and a roughly 60% reduction in land‑border traffic, saying, “Lo hemos reducido en un 97%.”

Trump also hinted that the United States could refuse to renew the United States‑Mexico‑Canada Agreement (USMCA), stating that the country is doing better without the treaty and that it should run a trade surplus with Mexico and Canada. He reiterated that the U.S. does not need Mexican or Canadian goods and urged a tougher stance on drug trafficking at the border.
