Donald Trump seeks to block financial disclosures in $10 bn BBC defamation case

President Donald Trump's legal team filed motions in a Florida federal court to pause the production of evidence and to deny the BBC's request for extensive financial records related to the Donald J. Trump Revocable Trust. The lawyers argue that the presiding judge, Enzolette Let, is biased and have asked for her replacement and a brief stay pending reassignment.

The BBC, which alleges that its Panorama documentary mis‑edited Trump's January 6, 2021 speech to suggest he encouraged a Capitol assault, is pursuing $10 billion in damages for alleged reputational harm and loss of brand value. It has demanded documents covering hundreds of companies tied to the trust, including tax returns and ownership details. To date the BBC has produced more than 45,000 pages of documents, while Trump's side has delivered none.

The broadcaster also seeks dismissal of the lawsuit, contending the documentary never aired in the United States and therefore falls outside the Florida court’s jurisdiction. No ruling has been issued on the motions.
