Donald Trump shares fabricated Denzel Washington quote

Donald Trump shared a fabricated quote on Truth Social attributed to actor Denzel Washington. The fake quote claimed Washington had never met anyone ‘braver’ or ‘smarter’ than the president and described him as a ‘great friend’ and a ‘steadfast supporter.’

Fact-checking investigations by Snopes found no evidence that Washington ever made these statements. Records from the Federal Election Commission indicate that Washington has donated tens of thousands of dollars to Democratic candidates over the years.

The same false quote has also been circulated online and attributed to other public figures, including Mick Jagger and Matthew McConaughey, neither of whom have expressed public support for the president.
