Misinformation regarding Denzel Washington endorsement

Overview

Donald Trump shared a fabricated quote on Truth Social that falsely attributed praise to actor Denzel Washington. The misinformation claimed Washington viewed the former president as a ‘great friend’ and a ‘steadfast supporter.’ Fact-checkers noted that Washington has historically donated to Democratic candidates and that similar false quotes have been attributed to other figures like Mick Jagger and Matthew McConaughey.

Following the post, representatives for Washington, including Alan Nierob of PMK Entertainment, officially debunked the endorsement. Nierob confirmed to the Washington Post that the statement is false and noted there was no evidence the actor made such comments.
