Donald Trump sues Wall Street Journal for $10 billion over Epstein claim

Former U.S. President Donald Trump has filed a revised defamation lawsuit in federal court in Miami, seeking at least $10 billion in damages from the Wall Street Journal. The complaint alleges the newspaper, published by Dow Jones and News Corp, disseminated false information about Trump’s alleged connection to the late financier Jeffrey Epstein, specifically claiming a birthday card addressed to Epstein bore Trump’s signature.

Trump and his legal team deny the authenticity of the card and argue the publication caused “enormous financial and reputational harm.” The suit names Dow Jones, News Corp, its CEO Robert Thomson, and two journalists, Hadija Safdar and Joseph Palazzolo, as defendants. The Wall Street Journal says it will vigorously defend the case. This filing follows a prior suit that was dismissed for lacking proof of actual malice, and it joins other defamation actions Trump has pursued against outlets such as the New York Times, BBC and the Des Moines Register. The case revives public debate over media coverage of the Epstein scandal, which remains a focal point of conspiracy theories and political controversy.
