Trump denies US munitions shortages and threatens leakers
President Donald Trump has denied reports of critical munitions shortages during the ongoing conflict with Iran, asserting that the U.S. maintains "massive amounts" of weaponry. Trump used Truth Social to vow that individuals responsible for leaking such "treasonous" information would be "hunted down" and face long-term prison sentences. The Pentagon has also dismissed claims of shortages as false, though it is investigating recent leaks regarding military stockpiles.
Despite official denials, several news outlets, including CNN and Reuters, have reported significant depletion of key defense inventories. Reports indicate that the U.S. has expended nearly 80% of its THAAD interceptor stock and roughly half of its Patriot interceptors. Additionally, the U.S. Army has reportedly used "virtually all" of its ATACMS and Precision Strike Missiles.
In response to these supply concerns, the Pentagon has established framework agreements with Northrop Grumman and Lockheed Martin to triple the production of PAC-3 interceptors and quadruple the production of THAAD interceptors. Meanwhile, the Trump administration has requested $87 billion in emergency funding, including $67 billion for the Pentagon, to replenish equipment and munitions.
