Poland defense plant fires identified as sabotage
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has declared that a fire at the WB Electronics drone factory in Skarżysko-Kamienna was undoubtedly an act of sabotage. The facility, which supplies unmanned aerial vehicles to both Polish and Ukrainian forces, suffered damages estimated between 3.5 million euros and 15 million PLN. Prosecutors are investigating the incident as a potential terrorist crime directed by a foreign intelligence service.
A second fire occurred at the JFG Composites facility in Lublin, a manufacturer of aerospace components. While Tusk noted there is currently no definitive evidence of arson in Lublin, he stated that the nature of the production means sabotage cannot be ruled out. Damages at the Lublin site are estimated at approximately 6.9 million euros.
Tusk characterized these incidents as part of a broader Russian hybrid war aimed at destabilizing the region. He warned that the upcoming autumn and winter months will be critical for the security of Poland and Ukraine as Russia continues its escalatory actions. The Prime Minister also linked the need for stricter cryptocurrency regulations to the prevention of such sabotage, claiming Russia uses digital assets to finance these operations.
