Donald Tusk warns of potential Russian escalation before Christmas
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has warned that Russia may escalate its hybrid warfare against Europe before Christmas. Speaking to journalists following a European Council summit in Brussels, Tusk cautioned that Poland should expect larger-scale attempts at sabotage and provocations.
He highlighted specific vulnerabilities, noting that the upcoming winter will be difficult regarding borders and railway infrastructure, which are critical for the transport of gas, oil, and food to Ukraine. Tusk emphasized that Russia is testing reactions and noted similar concerns in Latvia and Lithuania, where provocations are anticipated.
The Prime Minister also addressed the geopolitical implications of the conflict, stating that if Ukraine falls, all European nations will face “very, very serious problems.” He noted that despite shifts in US administration policy, EU leaders maintain a unified stance on supporting Kyiv.
