Dong Nai approves metro line and bridge projects connecting Ho Chi Minh City to Long Thanh Airport

On July 9, the Dong Nai City Council (term 2026‑2031) approved a series of resolutions to invest in major transport infrastructure linking Dong Nai with Ho Chi Minh City and Long Thanh International Airport. The council endorsed a public‑private partnership (PPP) to extend the metro line from Bến Thành–Suối Tiên to the Dong Nai administrative centre and onward to Long Thanh Airport, a 43.5 km route with six main stations and five planned future stations, passing through wards such as Long Bình, Đông Hòa, Biên Hòa and others.

The council also approved a 47.7 km urban rail line from Thủ Thiêm (HCMC) to a depot in Xuân Đường (Dong Nai), featuring 18 stations (two underground, 16 elevated) with an initial phase of 14 stations. In addition, separate PPP‑based bridge projects were authorized, including the Cát Lái bridge, Long Hưng (Dong Nai 2) bridge, and Phú Mỹ 2 bridge, each split into public‑funded road works and privately‑financed bridge construction. These projects aim to improve regional connectivity and support economic development in the Greater Ho Chi Minh area.
