Dong Nai authorities seize nearly 20kg of drugs smuggled via taxi

Authorities in Dong Nai province have seized nearly 20kg of various narcotics being smuggled from Cambodia into Vietnam. The seizure occurred near the border in Loc Tan commune after a high-speed chase involving a taxi.

Border guards and specialized task forces intercepted a blue taxi near border marker 75/11. When signaled to stop, the driver attempted to flee toward the interior but was eventually apprehended in Mang Cai area. A search of the vehicle's trunk revealed 17 packages of suspected methamphetamine weighing approximately 18kg and six rectangular blocks of suspected heroin weighing approximately 2kg.

The driver, identified as 26-year-old N. T. H from Dong Nai, confessed to transporting the drugs. Following an expanded investigation, two additional accomplices, V. M. T and N. V. C, were also detained. The suspects admitted the narcotics were brought from Cambodia for distribution within Vietnam.
