Dong Nai Search Teams Uncover Two Collective War Graves in Minh Duc

From 15‑19 July, Team K72 of the Dong Nai City Military Command intensified excavations in Minh Đức commune and uncovered two collective burial sites containing numerous war‑time artifacts, including firearms, pens, rubber sandals, ammunition and personal items. The discoveries provide new evidence to identify the remains of soldiers who fell during the anti‑American resistance.

The operation, carried out on land owned by the Bình Long rubber company, involved meticulous layer‑by‑layer digging to preserve fragile bones and artifacts for DNA analysis. Team members, supported by local volunteers and university students, halted work whenever possible remains were found, reporting to commanders for verification. The findings have prompted plans to expand the search area and aim to return the war dead to their families and comrades.

Officials, including Colonel Nguyễn Thanh Phong, highlighted the importance of the graves for historical memory and for honoring the sacrifices that secured Vietnam’s independence.
