Dong Thap K91 Team recovers 112 sets of martyr remains

The K91 Team of the Dong Thap Military Command has successfully recovered 112 sets of martyr remains, including 47 found in Cambodia and 65 within Vietnam. During the recent XXV phase, the team operated across 15 communes in the Pursat and Pray Veng provinces of Cambodia, as well as four communes in Dong Thap province.

To facilitate identification, the team has excavated over 1,500 sets of remains and collected nearly 1,400 biological samples for DNA testing. Due to the current pace of work, the mission to collect and hand over these samples is expected to be completed approximately five months ahead of the original April 2027 deadline.

Challenges cited by officials include the significant passage of time, changing terrain due to urbanization and agriculture, and the declining memory of elderly witnesses. For the upcoming XXVI phase (the 2026-2027 dry season), the team plans to expand survey and verification efforts across multiple districts and communes in both Pray Veng and Pursat.
