Dong Thap province promotes rural economy through OCOP products
The Dong Thap province in Vietnam is implementing a strategy to boost its rural economy by linking ‘Each Commune, One Product’ (OCOP) certified goods with rural tourism. This initiative aims to transform agricultural products, promote local specialties, and develop sustainable value chains.
Currently, the province has 889 OCOP-certified products, including 704 three-star, 181 four-star, and four five-star products. These are produced by 395 economic entities, such as cooperatives, businesses, and individual households.
As part of its 2025–2030 development strategy, Dong Thap seeks to integrate these products with community tourism, traditional craft villages, and agricultural experiences. Key examples include The Mango Trail Farmstay in My Tho, which focuses on mango cultivation and Mekong Delta culinary traditions, and the Thien An ecological tourism complex in Vinh Huu, which features medicinal plants and products derived from cordyceps.
