Dongdaemun-gu hosts festivals to revitalize local commercial districts
Dongdaemun-gu held a series of festivals on October 4 and 5 to revitalize local commercial districts in the Hwigyeong-dong and Janganmasil areas. The events aimed to increase foot traffic and encourage consumer spending in local shops.
On October 4, the ‘Hwina-ri’ (Hwigyeong Night Rhythm and Terrace) event took place in Hwigyeong-dong. As the first revitalization event of its kind in the area, it featured busking, stage performances, and incentives such as free draft beer for customers spending over 10,000 won to promote local commerce.
On October 5, the 2nd Janganmasil Night Walk Festival was held in the Janganmasil alleyway shopping district. Supported by a 50 million won Seoul Metropolitan Government project, the festival included a singing contest, saxophone performances, and a night market with food booths. Activities such as Onnuri gift certificate paybacks and various hands-on craft programs were also provided to attract families.
