Dongducheon City launches expanded walking program

The Dongducheon City Public Health Center has announced the launch of the ‘FUN FUN Neighborhood Walking’ program, an initiative designed to encourage daily physical activity and foster healthy lifestyle habits as part of its obesity prevention management project.

Recruitment for the program will run from October 1 to October 18, with the actual walking activities taking place from October 19 to November 18. Due to high interest and satisfaction from previous participants, the center has doubled the capacity from 100 to 200 participants. The program is open to smartphone users living in the area on a first-come, first-served basis.

Participants will use the mobile application ‘Modu Runner’ to track their daily steps and activity levels. Daily walking goals are set based on age: individuals under 65 are expected to walk at least 8,000 steps, while those aged 65 and older are tasked with a goal of 7,000 steps. To incentivize participation, those who meet their daily goals will receive a 10,000 won Onnuri gift certificate.
