Dongfeng Motor and Stellantis launch new automotive technology venture in Wuhan
Dongfeng Motor and Stellantis have officially established Dongfeng Stellantis Automobile (Wuhan) Co., Ltd., also known as Shenlong Technology, during a launch ceremony in Wuhan on August 20. The joint venture involves six parties: Dongfeng Motor, Stellantis, Changjiang Industrial Group, Wuhan Financial Control Group, Wuhan Economic Development Investment Group, and Dongfeng Stellantis Automobile.
The company has a registered capital of approximately 8.2 billion yuan. Its business scope includes vehicle research and development, industrial investment, and the sales of new energy vehicles. The initial phase of the project plans to launch four new energy models starting in 2027, utilizing both pure electric and plug-in hybrid technologies. These models will include two Jeep® brand vehicles and two Peugeot brand vehicles, which are expected to be produced at the Wuhan plant and distributed globally through Stellantis’s international network.
Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa stated that the establishment of Shenlong Technology is a milestone in the long-term partnership between Stellantis and Dongfeng Motor, serving as an execution platform for their strategic cooperation agreement announced in May. The venture aims to integrate Dongfeng’s core technologies in new energy and intelligent connectivity with Stellantis’s design expertise and global marketing capabilities.
