Dongfeng and Stellantis launch 1-billion-euro joint venture
Overview
Dongfeng Motor Group and Stellantis have officially launched their joint venture in Wuhan, China, named Dongfeng Peugeot-Citroen Technology (also referred to as Shenlong Technology). The entity has a registered capital of approximately 8.2 billion yuan (about 1 billion euros) and involves six parties. The ownership structure includes Dongfeng Peugeot-Citroen Automobile at 24.13%, Wuhan Financial Holding Group and Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone Industrial Investment Group at 19.52% each, Stellantis and Dongfeng Motor Group at 13.53% each, and Changjiang Industrial Investment Group at 9.76%.
The venture focuses on the research, development, and brand management of a new generation of electrified models. While the new company manages these aspects, physical production will continue under the existing production joint venture. Starting in 2027, the Wuhan plant is scheduled to produce two Peugeot New Energy Vehicle (NEV) models, followed by two Jeep NEV off-road models intended for global distribution.
Beyond the Chinese market, the companies are discussing a separate joint venture—comprising 51% Stellantis and 49% Dongfeng—to import and sell high-end Voyah models in Europe. Additionally, preliminary discussions are underway regarding the potential production of Chinese models in Europe, specifically at the Rennes plant in France.
