Donja Bela Reka Hosts Annual Folk Art Assembly Celebrating Ognjena Marija

In the Serbian village of Donja Bela Reka, the traditional village and church feast of Ognjena Marija was marked by the Sabor narodnog stvaralaštva, a folk‑art assembly that has gathered custodians of original songs, dances and customs for decades. The program featured a parade of participants, performances by cultural‑art societies from Bor, Majdanpek, Negotin and Zaječar, and the selection of a beauty queen for the assembly. The event was opened by Nebojša Buzej, assistant mayor of Bor, who highlighted its role in preserving cultural heritage and passing traditions to younger generations.

The gathering also included a small‑football tournament and a full‑evening program showcasing traditional games, folk songs and regional costumes. It was organized by the cultural‑art society “Milan Vasić Perica” with the patronage of the city of Bor, underscoring the community’s commitment to safeguarding its intangible cultural legacy.
