Dortmund apartment building rendered uninhabitable by fire
A fire in a multi-family residential building in the western city center of Dortmund, specifically on Sternstraße, has rendered the property uninhabitable. The incident occurred in the early hours of September 4, around 2:05 AM, triggering a major response from two fire brigades, two ambulances, and an emergency doctor.
Firefighters identified the source of the blaze in the basement. During the operation, emergency personnel used breathing apparatus to rescue two individuals from their apartments. One person was transported to a hospital as a precaution due to suspected smoke inhalation.
Due to heavy soot development, the building is no longer habitable, and the power supply was disconnected by the utility provider. Smoke also affected a neighboring building's courtyard, requiring additional ventilation measures.
