Doruk Madencilik workers protest unpaid wages in Ankara

Workers from Doruk Madencilik, operating under Yıldızlar SSS Holding in Eskişehir, are continuing protests in Ankara over unpaid wages, severance pay, insurance premiums, and compensation related to mandatory unpaid leave.

Despite previous agreements facilitated by various ministries, including the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources and the Ministry of Labour and Social Security, labor unions report that the company has failed to fulfill its payment commitments. Talih Kocabıyık, branch president of Türkiye Maden-İş, noted that recent payments only covered approximately one-tenth of the total owed, stating, "We are not in agreement with these payments."

A proposed solution presented by the workers involves the state placing a lien on the electricity sold by the company's Yunus Emre Thermal Power Plant to directly compensate the workers. Unions have announced further demonstrations scheduled for August 10, where they expect to be joined by Eti Gümüş miners.
