Double Fine releases Keeper on PS5 following Xbox split
Double Fine, the game development studio led by Tim Schafer, has released its adventure game Keeper on PlayStation 5. The move follows the studio's recent separation from Microsoft after Xbox underwent significant restructuring.
Following the divestment, Double Fine regained independence and retained its intellectual property, though the transition resulted in the layoff of approximately a quarter of its staff. Tim Schafer described the period as a ‘creative awakening’ despite the financial and professional challenges posed by the split.
To support future projects, the studio has launched a Kickstarter campaign. The campaign includes a goal to fund Amnesia Fortnight and a stated intention to develop Brütal Legend 2 if the campaign raises $100 million.
