DP World names first methanol dual-fuel vessel
DP World has officially named its first methanol dual-fuel containership, the ‘DP World London’, during a ceremony in Aarhus, Denmark. The 1,250 TEU vessel is designed to operate on a North Europe service and represents the company’s investment in lower-emission maritime transport technologies.
Built in China and delivered in April 2026, the 148-metre vessel is owned by the German company Elbdeich Reederei. It is operated under the Portuguese flag by DP World’s Shipping Solutions division. The ship is equipped with a five-cylinder main engine capable of using methanol and features Exhaust Gas Recirculation technology to further reduce emissions.
The vessel successfully completed its first methanol bunkering in Rotterdam on June 25, 2026, with Methanex serving as the methanol supplier and Unibarge acting as the bunkering partner.
