DPR RI targets Asset Forfeiture Bill passage by December 2026

The Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) Commission III has set a target to pass the Asset Forfeiture Bill (RUU Perampasan Aset) by December 2026. This legislation is intended to strengthen anti-corruption efforts and enhance state asset recovery.

Commission III Chairman Habiburokhman stated that the bill is a priority for the 2026–2027 legislative period. To ensure meaningful public participation, the commission plans to hold public hearing meetings (RDPU) two to three times per week, inviting academics, legal practitioners, and civil society organizations.

The legislative process is expected to be more complex than previous revisions to the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP) or the Police Law, as the concept of non-conviction based asset forfeiture is a new legal framework in Indonesia. The commission aims to balance effective asset recovery with the protection of third-party rights and the prevention of potential abuse of power.
