DPR official urges KPK to probe university admission bribery
Ahmad Sahroni, Vice Chairman of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR), has called on the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to investigate potential bribery in student admissions at other universities. This request follows an ongoing corruption investigation into the admission processes at Universitas Jenderal Soedirman (Unsoed).
Sahroni emphasized that the KPK should not limit its probe to a single institution if indications of similar practices exist elsewhere. He stated that education must be free from corruption, collusion, and nepotism, advocating for a merit-based system. He expressed concern that the alleged sale of student seats undermines the integrity of higher education and creates unfairness for honest applicants.
